Twitter GIF downloader questions
How do I download a GIF from Twitter or X?
Open the post containing the GIF, copy its full x.com or twitter.com link, and paste it into this tool. Choose Save as GIF for a converted animation, or Save original MP4 for the source file.
Why is a Twitter GIF an MP4 file?
X serves animated GIF posts as silent MP4 videos. The MP4 preserves the available source animation. Save as GIF creates a new GIF file from that video in your browser; it does not recover the GIF originally uploaded.
What are the GIF conversion limits?
GIF export includes the first 8 seconds, uses up to 320 pixels on its longest side, and runs at 10 frames per second. It can lose color detail and produce a larger file than MP4. Choose the original MP4 for the full animation. Source downloads are limited to 20 MB.
Does this work on iPhone, Android, and desktop?
The tool runs in modern mobile and desktop browsers. Your browser saves the file to Downloads. Keep this page open during conversion. If GIF conversion is unavailable in your browser, use the MP4 download.
Can I download GIFs from private or deleted posts?
No. This downloader checks media attached to accessible public posts. It cannot open protected accounts, recover deleted media, or bypass restrictions. A post must still provide a supported GIF animation.
Why does my post show no GIF?
Regular videos and still photos are not GIFs. If the animation is in a reply or a quoted post, open that individual post and copy its link. Shortened t.co links must be opened first to get the full post URL.
